Illing

Hailing from Johannesburg, Illing has spent the last eight years honing her DJ craft, playing festivals and clubs across South Africa and Ibiza. She’s the quintessential DJ’s DJ, having learned to mix on a set of old SL1200s before moving on to more modern CDJs, and working towards becoming the musical force she is today.

However her love of music, and mixing it, started long before she picked up her first vinyl record. As a youngster Illing was obsessed with her parents’ music collection, and the tracks she heard and liked on the radio, and would spend hours recording songs to cassette and making home-made mix tapes. Clearly a career in DJing was meant to be.

Nowadays Illing is known for the range of music she plays to packed dancefloors. She confesses that she hates to box in her sound or describe it in just one way, as it’s multifaceted and consists of everything from dark, deep, rolling basslines to energetic and interesting hats and pronounced kicks. She likes to keep the energy on the dancefloor flowing and confesses that nothing gives her more of a thrill than seeing the reaction of those on the dancefloor as they move along with her and her music.

As a DJ Illing is driven by the desire to constantly improve and find new styles of music and ways to innovate the way in which she plays it. This had led to her exploring a mixture of Indie Dance, Tech House, Nu Disco and deep hypnotic Techno.

Music is a lifestyle for Illing and outside of playing it she keeps busy by creating strategies for parties and events.
